How do you make a diamond die? The procedure takes a long
time and is extremely complicated. Mature technology to control every detail
is necessary and the advanced machine fulfills high quality requirements.

Diamond inspection-Weilly dies are made
with diamonds of close to gem grade, which are checked under
microscopes by 100X material magnification. Any impurities,
cracks and spots could be easily detected and rejected. An orthoscope
detects the internal-stress, since abnormal internal-stress
will cause die cracking during die manufacturing or the wire
drawing process. |

Diamond Setting-Putting a center-marked
diamond toward the turning casing is the best solution for exact
center setting of diamond in the casing. |

Metal power filling-An automatic filling
machine efficiently and precisely fills a constant amount of
mixed sintering powder into casing. |
 |
Reinforcement-The diamond should
be firmly protected by a metal matrix, which is formed by the
sintered metal powder, reinforcing the diamond to endure wire
impact without breaking and to extend wire die life. Weilly's
auto-sintering process is accomplished by the combination of
an infrared sensor, auto-feeder and a sintering machine. |

Coning-An automatic turning machine completes
front and back cones and two parallel flats. |

Cylindrical grinding-In order to ensure
the precise dimensions and roundness of the casing, every casing
should be ground by the centerless grinding machine to tightly
control the tolerance within 5 microns. |

Laser Drilling-The precision and consistency
of our die profiling has been improved dramatically since we
purchased a state-of-the-art laser die-drilling unit. Double
sided profile drilling is achieved by this most up-to-date laser
drilling machine. |

Shaping and polishing-An advanced ultrasonic
die working machine ensures the accurate die profile and good
surface finish. |

Hole calibration-A wire lapping machine
is used for controlling the precise tolerance of the die hole. |

Every operator at Weilly has his own control tool to ensure high quality work. Besides the strict self-control by each operator, up-to-date instruments execute the final quality control, guaranteeing optimum quality level.
Optical die profiler-Thanks to the innovative Conoptica quality control system, the precision and consistency of die geometry can be regulated to high standards.
Elongation tester-A matched elongation set can achieve maximum drawing speed and reduce wire breaks for multi-wire drawing machines. |
Elongation die sets
Elongation die set is a wire die pre-drawing and die matching technology for drawing die on multi-wire drawing applications. This innovative system enables high speed, ultra-fine, multi-line wire drawing with high efficiency and consistency. The reliable elongation die sets mostly apply to a die size between 0.03mm and 0.20mm. The photo right shows the elongation-testing instrument.

Laser Scan Micrometer-Rotating and precise measurement with repeatability within 0.1 microns, monitoring diameter as well as ovality.
Digital OHM Meter-For ultra-fine wire measurement, it measures the electrical resistance of a certain length of wire with known specific resistance. The accurate corresponding wire diameter can be calculated.
